These Terms of Service govern your use of the Deposit Rescue website and services. By placing an order, you agree to these Terms.

1. What Deposit Rescue does

Deposit Rescue is a self-help document service. Based on the information you provide, we generate a security deposit demand letter, email it to you as a PDF, and mail it to the person you name by USPS Certified Mail. We also email you a follow-up letter and general information about small claims court.

2. We are not a law firm

Deposit Rescue is not a law firm, does not provide legal advice, and is not a substitute for an attorney. Using our service does not create an attorney-client relationship. Our letters reference state laws that commonly apply to security deposits, but we do not review your individual situation, and laws can change or include exceptions. For advice about your specific situation, consult a licensed attorney or a local tenant rights organization.

3. Your responsibilities

You must be at least 18 years old and the tenant named in the letter, or authorized to act for that tenant.
You are responsible for the accuracy of all information you provide, including names, addresses, dates and amounts.
You authorize us to print and mail the letter in your name to the address you provide.
You agree not to use the service to send false, misleading or harassing communications.

4. Prices and payment

The Deposit Rescue Kit costs $29 and includes your demand letter as a PDF, mailing by USPS Certified Mail, a tracking number when available, and a follow-up letter as a PDF. Mailing the follow-up letter by USPS Certified Mail is optional and costs $15. Prices are in US dollars and are charged when you order. Payments are processed securely by Stripe. Payments may be processed internationally, and some card issuers charge a foreign transaction fee.

5. Delivery

Your PDF letter is emailed to you shortly after payment. Mailed letters are usually printed and sent within 1 to 2 business days. Delivery times depend on the United States Postal Service and are not guaranteed.

6. No guaranteed outcome

We cannot guarantee that your landlord will respond, return your deposit, or pay any amount. The outcome depends on your situation, your landlord and, if you file a claim, the court.

7. Refunds

Refunds are handled under our Refund Policy.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount you paid for the order concerned. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including any amount you are unable to recover from your landlord.

9. Changes

We may update these Terms. The version in effect when you place your order applies to that order.
